Plym Valley Railway Celebrates Model Railway Exhibition Success

Around 600 paying people attended the first Plymouth Model Railway Exhibition organised by the Plym Valley Railway Association & Chris’ Crafts and Model Railways which took place at St Boniface's Catholic College. The show saw the demonstration of 17 well constructed layouts of varying scales from different model railway groups and individuals, the operation of a 7.25” miniature railway along with trade support selling new and secondhand model railway items along with books and railwayana.

Daniel Phillips, Event Manager said “I am astounded by the level of support shown by the public for our first model railway show. It has beat all of our expectations and to see halls filled with people watching layouts to the sound of steam engine whistles and diesel engines humming was so rewarding. The standard of exhibiting layouts, depicting scenes from far fetched locations such as the Himalayan mountains to rural America, was so high and it was superb to see the level of interest in the hobby. I would like to thank all who visited and to the volunteers who assisted with the event.”

Steve Newby, Chris’ Crafts Manager said ”I am so pleased with the support and would like to thank every one involved and those who attended the show to make it a success”

It is hoped that the exhibition will grow in 2026 with plans already being put in place. Please keep an eye on our website and social media for announcements. The Plym Valley Railway also welcomes interest from exhibitors with layouts available to be demonstrated. Please contact plymouthmodelrailwayshow@gmail.com.
