A bit about Oliver

Oliver was born on March 9th 2008.At the age of eight Oliver was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome at Bristol Children's Hospital as a result of a complication relating to his GATA2 gene. Oliver spent three years bravely facing treatments and over 15 operations and tragically passed away at Children's Hospice South West's Little Harbour in Cornwall at age 11. After receiving the devastating terminal diagnosis Oliver's true personality shone through. He continued to live life to his fullest ability for as long as he could. He and his family made some amazing memories during this time. One off his favourite places to visit was Plymouth's West Hoe Park where he would help out on the Gus Honeybun Train. Here at the Plym Valley Railway we are privileged to collaborate with Oliver's family and a group of, what can only be described as madmen, to deliver a locomotive lovingly restored to raise awareness of his story and spread awareness for Children's Hospice South West.
